Hostels vs. paying guest accommodations is quite a common debate topic among the students going for higher studies in some other city. They really don't know which one would be a better option for them. And which accommodation offers exactly what kind of services and having what kind of environment.

·         But in Paying Guest, your landlord provides you complete access to the amenities as you are staying in his premises. You can use the kitchen, hall, television, microwave, refrigerator and other utility durables.  The bitter fact is that students won’t be able to survive in such kind of environment as it affects their studies badly.

Regular Meals

·         The students living in hostel accommodation are entitled to regular 3-course meals which are served at a pre-specified time and place and everyone is expected to be present to avail it. Here the food is prepared under hygienic conditions and the menu is already set to serve all 7 days to the students. The students don’t have the permission to make their own food or any other snacks.

·         But in Paying Guest accommodation, there is no guarantee whether the meals are provided by the landlord or not. Sometimes it is given by the house owner sometimes it needs to be arranged by the people himself. And hence it is chargeable of course and not included in rent.

Ambience

·         Hostels have a much candid and restricted atmosphere as there are caretakers or a warden available all time in the premises to maintain the discipline and study like environment and take care of the integrity and disciplinary issues in case any.

·         On the other hand, in paying guest accommodation, you have to share the same premises with the landlord and also with the other people who belong to different fields. They might create chaos and lots of noise as all of them has different work timings and preferences.

Security aspect

·         The hostel environment is highly disciplined, cozy and secured, as there is a regular check done by the warden in the hostel premises.
